about me
leah kay: the woman behind the apron
I'm the girl who went to her third-grade fall festival dressed in an apron and carrying a daisy because I wanted to be a florist when I grew up. And now I'm actually doing it.

As might be expected, I did stray from my third grade answer to the question of what did I want to be when I grew up for a time before circling back to floral design. Thanks to an elective that I completed as part of my landscape horticulture degree from Auburn, I realized that fresh cut flowers were my calling. My answer to that age-old question was as clear to me at 19 as it had been at 9, and the very next semester I sought out an internship and haven't looked back.

It's been a long and winding road, and I even picked up a master's degree in public horticulture along the way. While landscape design is still my bread and butter, I'm so excited to finally be doing what I love: flowers for events, weddings, gifts, and so many of life's other celebrations.

I'm driven to keep growing and developing my craft so that each event is an improvement upon the last. I'm actually not quite satisfied unless I overhear the other vendors saying things like, "This is the most gorgeous bouquet I've ever seen," and yes, it has happened a time or two. ;)
